Trip Leaders Weekend 

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS A TRAINING WEEKEND FOR NSWSKC TRIP LEADERS ONLY.  PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER IF YOU ARE NOT A TRIP LEADER.

Objectives

• ·         Refresh leader skills: Surf landings, injured paddler, assisted rescues near rocks
• ·         Learn basic stroke coaching skills:
• ·         Set targets for trips and training calendar
• ·         Understand effective risk assessments for kayaking
• ·         Discussion opportunity for items to take forward to AGM

On water training

• ·         Surf landings – group and injured paddler
• ·         Assisted rescues near rock features
• ·         Rescue refresher – heel hook, scoop, stirrup
• ·         Basic strokes as part of a trip - forward stroke, sweep stroke, edging, low brace

Off water training

• ·         Effective risk assessments
• ·         Emergency protocols and insurance requirements
• ·         Wild Apricot – trip set up and management
