Sunday 3rd of March is Clean Up Australia Day
Megan is organising a council collection and social day for Clean Up Australia Day.
Ideal for any grade. You will be paired up with a grade 2 member if you have not had grade 2 signed off.
Paddler briefing will be at 9:15 am. Parking is available opposite 1 Matson Crescent, Miranda. You may also be able to paddle to the event by paddling within Port Hacking to the northeast end of Yowie Bay.
As the tide drops, intertidal areas will become more accessible. Paddlers may collect shoreline debris within Port Hacking and / or work on land including the intertidal mangroves area around Kareena Park.
Robust paddling shoes are recommended or possibly a set of more enclosed walking shoes in addition to your paddling footwear.
This area was once the site of social pleasure grounds and continues to be. Bring a picnic lunch and a camp chair for a social gathering afterwards. The nearby EG Waterhouse National Camellia Gardens is definitely a worthwhile visit if you have the time afterwards.
If you cannot make it, you may donate to the cause via this link or check out other Clean Up sites.
