Rob and Sharon's Island Adventure

When:  Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th September
Where: Broughton Island
Grades: 1 and Up

Join Rob and Sharon for an extended weekend trip out to the beautiful Broughton Island on the NSW mid north coast. We will leave from the sheltered waters of Port Stephens for a 25 kilometre crossing to Broughton Island. As we pass by Cabbage Tree and  Boondelbah Islands we may get the opportunity to view the seal colony.  At this time of year we have seen whales, flying fish, dolphins, gannets, gulls, eagles, boobies, prijons and shearwaters cruising. At the picturesque Esmerlda Cove we will have the privilege of camping amongst the breeding ground of wedge-tailed shearwaters and exploring the nearby soaks and wet lands for the endangered green and gold bell frog. The second day at Broughton gives us time to explore the island on foot, circumnavigate the islands by kayak, fish, swim, and snorkel. The third day sees us retracing the journey to our put in point.
What to bring: You will need to be self sufficient for the weekend including all camping gear, food, water, and your usual kayaking gear. You can also bring your fishing gear, shady tarp, helmets, sails, mask and snorkels, and sturdy shoes for bushwalking.
Who: Grade 1 and above.
Numbers will be limited. If the event is showing full, please email Sharon merceridge5(at)
If the weather isn't conducive, I have other options which include Myall Lakes and River and Port Stephens itself.
